Why can't I make local calls in the app?
WhiteApp is designed to help you stay in touch with friends and family abroad, so calls to local numbers can't be connected through the app (with the exception of UK to UK).
If you try to call a local number, you'll hear a short message letting you know the call can't go through. Don't worry, nothing is wrong with your account and you won't be charged.
What is a local call?
A local call is any call to a number in the same country you're calling from. For example, if you're in Ireland, calls to Irish numbers (landlines or mobiles) are local calls.
How do I make a local call instead?
- Close WhiteApp
- Open your phone's usual dialler
- Call the number as normal
Local calls made this way are charged by your mobile network, in line with your usual plan (if you have calls included in your PAYG/contract/bundles).
Will I be charged for trying to make a local call in the app?
No. If a local call can't be connected, you won't be charged and your app credit stays in your account, ready for your next international call.
Can I still make international calls?
Yes. International calls work as normal, so you can keep using us to call numbers abroad.
Still need help?
If you think you've been charged for a local call, or you're having trouble calling an international number, please contact us through the app and we'll be happy to help.
