White - Dial Pad and Call Types

Modified on Tue, 22 Sep at 9:58 AM

How do I dial a call?

  • There are various ways to dial, and it's entirely up to you
  • From your contacts: allow White app to access your contacts (device permission, we highly recommend you accept when signing up), and they will all show in the app
  • From the dial pad: tap "Keypad" icon and the dial pad opens
  • From your recents call history

I didn't allow contacts access when I registered: can I fix it?

  • Yes. Go into your app settings on your device settings and allow contacts access
  • All your contacts will then show in the app

How do I close the dial pad?

  • Toggle it off by tapping the keypad icon again

How can I change the way my calls connect?

  • You can change this in the app at any time
  • Open the sidebar (three lines in the top left) and select your connection method
  • The options are Local Call, Wi-Fi, and Mobile Data/Wi-Fi
    • A black text on a white background

What is a Local Call connection?

  • You connect via our local access number
  • A good option if you have inclusive bundled minutes from your mobile network operator
  • If you're on Pay as You Go or have run out of bundled minutes, your network provider will charge you at their per minute landline rate

What is the Wi-Fi connection option?

  • You need a strong, stable Wi-Fi signal for an uninterrupted call
  • A good option if you don't have inclusive minutes with your network provider, or if you're travelling
  • Also a good solution when roaming, particularly outside Europe

What is the Mobile Data/Wi-Fi option?

  • You need a strong, stable mobile data or Wi-Fi signal for an uninterrupted call
  • If you're using mobile data instead of Wi-Fi, always make sure you have enough data available

I can't make a call: what should I check?

  • There are a couple of things to check before contacting our team
  • If you're on a Pay as You Go mobile and hear a message saying you don't have enough credit, check the credit on your mobile device: this applies when calling over a Local Number
  • If you're calling over Wi-Fi, make sure your connection is strong. Rebooting your router can help, and you can test the connection by loading up Google
  • If you hear a message saying "PIN Stuck in Use", contact us straight away and we can resolve it for you
  • You can check our Current Service Status in Help and Support, which is updated whenever we know of an issue

How do I check whether there's a service outage?

  • Go into Help and Support and check Current Service Status
  • This is updated when we know we have an issue

How do I contact support?

  • Chat to us via our in-app chat service: the quickest way to reach us
  • Email us at ask@whitecalling.com
    • Available Mon-Fri, 9-5
  • You can also find answers to most queries in our FAQs
